Call for proposals: Faculty Initiative Fund

The University of Alaska is now accepting proposals for the FY26 Faculty Initiative Fund (FIF). Proposals are due by 5 p.m. on Oct. 6, 2025.

The FIF provides $360,000 in funding to support systemwide collaboration, academic innovation, and professional development across the °ÅÀÖÊÓÆµsystem. Faculty from all three universities are encouraged to apply.

The fund supports projects that advance the university’s academic mission and systemwide goals, including:

  • Building UA’s intellectual capital through research

  • Promoting external grant opportunities or cost-reduction strategies

  • Developing high-impact teaching practices

  • Creating professional development initiatives across campuses

  • Fostering community partnerships and engaged learning

  • Contributing to student recruitment, retention, and success

  • Expanding student research, internships, and apprenticeship opportunities

  • Enhancing UA’s service to the state

Award categories
Two tiers of funding are available for FY26:

  • Tier I: Up to $30,000 for projects of approximately 18 months (minimum of six awards)

  • Tier II: Up to $10,000 for smaller or seed projects (minimum of 15 awards)

Proposals must demonstrate collaboration, innovation, and impact across the °ÅÀÖÊÓÆµsystem. More information, including the submission form, is available on the Faculty Alliance website.
