Arctic Encounter Symposium to feature °ÅÀÖÊÓƵResearch & Leadership

The University of Alaska is proud to be a co-host of the Arctic Encounter Symposium (AES) in Anchorage later this month. AES is the largest annual Arctic policy event in the United States, and aims to confront the shared interests and concerns of the United States and the global community on current and future Arctic issues.
°ÅÀÖÊÓƵresearch and leadership will be on full display during the March 29-31 symposium as a large number of panelists and speakers are °ÅÀÖÊÓƵaffiliated, including:
- Diane Hirshberg, UAA Director of Institute of Social & Economic Research,
- Brett Watson, from ISER at UAA,
- Dean Bill Schnabel from °ÅÀÖÊÓƵ’s College of Engineering and Mines,
- Nettie La Belle-Hamer, °ÅÀÖÊÓƵ Vice Chancellor for Research,
- Michele Yatchmeneff, UAA Alaska Native Education & Outreach Executive Director,
- Charlene Stern, °ÅÀÖÊÓƵ Vice Chancellor for Rural, Community, and Native Education,
- Gwen Holdmann, °ÅÀÖÊÓƵ Assoc. Vice Chancellor for Research, and
- Justin Sternberg, Director of °ÅÀÖÊÓƵ’s Blue Economy Center
President Pitney will give a keynote address, and °ÅÀÖÊÓƵwill also host a panel discussion on developing critical minerals.
